On April 2019, the second edition of UTECH Las Américas was held. This is the largest event of its kind in Latin America, and Intermol had the opportunity to share the forum with more than 85 national and international exhibiting companies, leaders in the polyurethane market among which stand out: BASF, Cannon, Carpenter, Chromaflo, COIM, Covestro, Elastomeros Taza, Evonik, Grupo Valfer, Hennecke, Huntsman, Krauss Maffei, Polylubex, Eiffel Products, Química Sagitario, Wanhua among others.
Mexico itself is a very fast growing market for the PU Industry. With an extremely dynamic automotive industry that represents 6% of the national GDP and 18% of all industrial production in the country, most of the key automotive brands have moved their production to this region, making it an excellent prospect for anyone involved in the PU market.
It is thus, that the polyurethane market has grown since 2014 by 8.1% according to the global report of PU Magazine Germany, a benchmark for the global industry, and is expected to continue to rise at an annual rate of 5% until 2020, placing our country as the fastest growing market in America and the third largest in the world.
In this context, the largest markets for polyurethane are flexible foam for mattresses and furniture, as well as seats in all types of passenger vehicles. The next largest market is rigid foam, which is used to insulate buildings and appliances such as refrigerators and freezers.
In the three days of the event Intermol positioned itself as the only exhibitor to present a line of completely water-based release agents, presenting its Make Foam Better initiative, which seeks to co-create cleaner and more environmentally and personnel friendly solutions.
